HYSUCAT Foil Assisted Vessels

Art Anderson Associates has designed several vessels using hydrofoil technology. We offer HYSUCAT C hydrofoil-assisted catamaran designs for high-speed craft and fast ferry applications.

The HYSUCAT hydrofoil system has been developed over the past 20 years through extensive model testing and feedback from over 300 HYSUCAT hydrofoil-assisted catamarans that have been built ranging in size from 5.5m - 36m (18-118ft). The HYSUCAT hydrofoil system has been designed for semi-planing and planing catamarans and is well suited to patrol craft, pleasure craft and small (<20m) high-speed ferries. The hydrofoils are designed to support 40-70% of the vessel weight at planing speeds allowing up to 40% reduction in planing resistance. The HYSUCAT foils are fixed and designed to be self-stabilizing making HYSUCATS relatively insensitive to weight shifts.

HYSUCAT foils can be retrofitted to existing catamaran hulls to improve performance or, for optimum results; the HYSUCAT hydrofoil system should be used in conjunction with an asymmetrical planing hullform specifically adapted for HYSUCAT foils.
