Facilities Architecture and Engineering

A Multidisciplinary Approach

Art Anderson Associate is unique in that, unlike most small and medium-sized engineering services firms, we have all major disciplines under one roof. Our firm employs architects and planners; civil, structural, electrical and mechanical engineers; and inspection and construction management personnel. Having all these disciplines in-house translates into a more efficient and effective project team. The various disciplines have well-established personal and professional relationships, having worked with one another over the course of many projects. Instead of having to build new working relationships from scratch for each new project, our team knows each other and how to work effectively as a cohesive unit. Responsiveness is also improved. Instead of coordinating efforts between multiple offices and firms, our people can just shout over the cubicle wall or gather for an impromptu meeting around the water cooler. Our clients appreciate that because of our teamwork, they have one less thing to worry about.

Multi-Phase Services

Our multidisciplinary capability and broad range of professional expertise allow us to provide services throughout a project’s life-cycle. From inception to final closeout and beyond, Art Anderson Associates is equipped to help you through the whole project. We’re experienced in working with clients through the initial project planning phases. In this phase, we work with clients to answer questions like “what do we need?”, “what can we accomplish?”, and “how are we going to pay for it?” Needs assessments, program development, feasibility studies and cost analyses are just some of the early-phase services we can provide. Once design begins, we work with clients to develop facilities that are considered with the end user in mind. Our multidisciplinary team coordinates extensively to develop designs that work as an entire building system. We are familiar with LEED and other green building standards, and work to minimize our client’s life-cycle costs wherever possible. As ground is broken, we stand ready to serve our clients through construction. We understand how to effectively manage contractors and the construction process to keep on schedule and budget. We also stand ready to provide additional designs or revisions quickly if unanticipated challenges arise. We also know how to successfully bring a project to an end, ensuring completion of the final punchlist and that the owner received a satisfactory product. Throughout the course of a facilities project, we remain committed to our mantra of providing Value Beyond Engineering®. That is, we commit to go above and beyond what is expected of a typical engineering firm in order to ensure our clients are successful.

Local Design/Build Partnerships

Instead of using a traditional design-bid-build, many facility owners are turning to the design-build model of procurement. This new model means tighter schedules and a closer relationship between engineer and constructor. Instead of the often-adversarial relationship in traditional procurement models, design-build entails a true partnership between the engineer and the constructor. Art Anderson Associates understands the ins and outs of this procurement method, and has a track record of success working closely with construction companies as part of a design-build team. We take the principles of partnership in design-build seriously, which is why we strive to build long-term relationships with constructors. In that way, our team builds familiarity and improves quality and responsiveness over the course of multiple projects. Like our traditional design services, our design-build work has included over-water, shoreline and landside projects. We’ve worked on small tasks as part of a task order contract and large single projects alike. Our multidisciplinary, team-focused service makes us an ideal partner for design-build projects. If you’re a constructor, consider how we can be a partner in your success.

Inspection and Rehabilitation

Facilities and systems don’t last forever. Whether through poor original design, unsatisfactory construction, or simply age, structures and systems can crack, warp or break down. Art Anderson Associates’ engineers are experienced in providing inspection services for these problems and designing appropriate and long-lasting solutions. So if you see cracking in a wall, experience electrical shorts or HVAC system failures, our team is ready to get your facility fixed up.

Immediate/Emergency Response

From time to time, a natural event causes significant damage to property. Whether it’s a major earthquake, flood, blizzard, or some other act of God, facility owners need engineers they can count on to respond quickly. Art Anderson Associates stands ready to provide an immediate response to natural events. Our engineers are experienced with performing inspections and quickly developing designs for emergency shoring or damage mitigation.
