AAA Featured in Kitsap Sun Article

Ben and Eric Anderson

Art Anderson Associates was recently featured in a front-page Kitsap Sun article higlighting our recent hiring of Ben Anderson as a Naval Architect. Ben recently left the US Coast Guard and is the third generation of Andersons to join the company, following his father (and current CEO) Eric, and grandfather Art, who founded the firm in 1957:

"He's much more structured," Eric Anderson, 61, said of the young one. "Fifteen years from now, this company will be run more like a ship rather than a pirate ship.

Looney Obtains His PE License

Dan LooneyDan Looney was recently awarded his Professional Engineer (PE) license by the State of Washington. Obtaining his license is a key step in his professional development as a marine/mechanical engineer for Art Anderson Associates.

Mr. Looney is a retired US Navy Captain with over 27 years of honorable service, most recently serving as the Commanding Officer of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center at Keyport, Washington. Upon his retirement from Naval service, Dan embarked on a second career as a design engineer, being hired by Art Anderson Associates in 2008. Since that time, he has worked towards obtaining his license while leading and working on many of the firm's naval architecture and marine engineering contracts. One of his recent highlights is serving as the Project Manager for the NOAA Fleet Greening Study, a project investigating a variety of means to improve energy efficiency and the environmental footprint of the NOAA fleet of research vessels.

   

Pete's Welcome Home Ceremony

Pete Hesford is not only a Construction Manager for Art Anderson Associates, he is also an Army Reservist, and recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.  In an "all hands" ceremony in which we showed our appreciation for his service and welcomed him home, Pete shared some of his thoughts with us:

   

Another ENR Award for the Brightwater Outfall Project

Standing on Brightwater Outfall PipeQuick on the heels of being awarded the "Best of the Best" award by Engineering News Record, the Brightwater Conveyance Marine Outfall project was awarded the "Best of 2009" award in the heavy/civil category.  The "Best of 2009" award recognizes the top engineering achievements of 2009 and this year, ENR received the most nominations ever.

Brightwater Outfall Project Wins Prestigious ENR Award

A tug positions the Brightwater outfall pipeEngineering News Record, arguably the top magazine in the architecture/engineering/construction industry, recently selected the Brightwater Marine Outfall project as the top entry in the heavy/civil engineering category of the publication's "Best of the Best" awards.  An independent jury of construction professionals selected the project on the basis of innovation, safety, contribution to the community, aesthetic quality and craftsmanship.

Art Anderson Associates participated in the design/build project as the civil/structural engineer responsible for the pipe anchors and construction trestle.  The prime contractor, Triton Marine Construction, is a long-time partner of our firm.  The award is a testament to the positive working relationship betwen AAA and Triton and the skill and expertise of the team members who participated on the project.
