High-Speed Patrol/Response Boat

Seattle Patrol BoatArt Anderson Associates performed the preliminary design for a high-speed patrol boat suitable for fire and police departments. The final design and construction of the vessel was performed by Kvichak Marine Industries.

The vessel has two 600-horsepower engines and one fire engine. The propulsion and firefighting engines are identical and interchangeable. The vessel is designed with a flush cockpit hatch over the entire machinery space to facilitate the maintenance of the engines. The aft deck is suitable for rescue operations, having a small 12-inch freeboard and 6-foot wide transom door.

The firefighting system consists of two monitors and two outlets in the aft deck. The monitor on the pilothouse top is capable of delivering a 4-inch stream of water at 3,000 gallons per minute and is operable from within the pilothouse. The 2-1/2-inch monitor at the bow is portable and can be operated at the aft outlet in the step at the aft deck.

The vessel is also designed for heavy-duty pulling and pushing, with push knees at the bow and rub rails all around. This mission is also supported by a 10,000-pound safe working load tow bitt and a 1,000-pound removable a-frame davit over the transom.
