"Greening" of the Fleet

"Greening" of the Fleet

While environmental topics continue to rise in the public consciousness, vessel owners and operators know it as a perennial issue. After all, reducing fuel consumption, waste and life-cycle costs are hardly new ideas in the marine industry. What is new are regulatory requirements and technologies that address environmental concerns and compel owners and operators to find ways to improve the efficiency and environmental performance of their vessels.

Art Anderson Associates is an industry leader helping fleet owners like NOAA, Washington State Ferries and others identify, evaluate and implement strategies that reduce emissions and waste, minimize a fleet’s carbon footprint and improve the sustainability and life cycle of their investment.  We recently initiated a project to develop Ship Energy Efficiency Management Programs (SEEMPs) and a Departmental Energy Efficiency Program (DEEP) for the Alaska Marine Highway System, a project driven by changing IMO requirements for international vessels.  We are also in the process of developing a diesel-electric hybrid drive system for a new passenger ferry for Kitsap Transit.

If you are interested in improving the energy efficiency of your vessels through a SEEMP or the numerous other measures we've addressed for our clients, or are interested in designing a next-generation hybrid drive system for new or existing vessels, contact us today!
